Burning Bridges

Color me a new subscriber…

Peter Rutten, my friend and neighbor, has a Radio weblog.  He is planning to devote his weblog to an insiders guide to the rise and fall of Wired magazine.  He’s not going to cover the topic in the overwrought startup.com model of idea-lite greed and infighting, but rather from the perspective of the rise and fall of the substantial idea that drove Wired to the top and back to the bottom.  I just subscribed.

These ideas became frighteningly sacred within the walls of Wired. It wasn’t so terrible to shout from your Wired cubicle that technology couldn’t solve everything or even that technology sucked. But if you were philosophically off course, in the way that contributor Pauline Borsook was for example, you were not just “tired”, you were dead and buried.
