MySQL Tuning Problems

I’m only running Linux here, but I completely understand Jeremy’s frustration with this.  I had a major problem with my main DB server (running MySQL) a few months ago – it would get a load average pushing 500-600 before settling down.  Some MySQL memory setting changes seems to have fixed it….  Frustrating…
