Vacation is almost over…

by Bryan Strawser · Jul 22, 2002

Still down in southern Indiana about to head for the airport and back home.  I’m sure that the ‘fat cat’ is wondering if she’ll ever see me again ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s been a great vacation, not really looking forward to going back to work, but expect that I’ll survive ๐Ÿ˜‰

Where the weblog name comes

by Bryan Strawser · Jul 21, 2002

Where the weblog name comes from…  My mother asked me earlier today about the name of my weblog…

As a part of a project in a History class at Danville Area Community College in 1992 or 1993, I read a book called The Courage of their Convictions.  It was about several individuals that had stood up for something that they had believed in and become the subject of a United States Supreme Court case.  It was a great book.

The book’s author had written about his own convictions, and commented that “there is some shit I will not eat”.  In other words, there were some things that he would simply not stand for.  I feel the same way at times.

The phrase itself is from e.e. cumming’s poem “i sing of Olaf, glad and big”.

Go read it..  it’s a great poem.
