Reflection – 1962

We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.

We Choose to goto Mars

Our third goal is to return to the moon by 2020, as the launching point for missions beyond. Beginning no later than 2008, we will send a series of robotic missions to the lunar surface to research and prepare for future human exploration. Using the Crew Exploration Vehicle, we will undertake extended human missions to the moon as early as 2015, with the goal of living and working there for increasingly extended periods. Eugene Cernan, who is with us today — the last man to set foot on the lunar surface — said this as he left: “We leave as we came, and God willing as we shall return, with peace and hope for all mankind.” America will make those words come true.

Progress

So we have credible intelligence about Al Qaeda pilots on Air France perhaps – MSNBC is reporting that France and US officials are seeking a specific individual who was to board a flight departing from Paris.

The Military has deployed anti-aircraft missiles around Washington and New York, and we have combat air patrols up.

It’s going to be an interesting Christmas. But we’re making progress.

Limbaugh and Painkillers

And I’m a conservative. I can’t wait to see what the others have to say.

There are so many people I miss – some still walk the face of the earth… some live on only in my memories.

Tom, Chad, Fern, Lisa, Eldon, Marnie, Hill, Chris, Heather, Matt, Gary, Erin, Angie, Jennifer, Mike, Maggie, Rod, and I could go on.

Layers upon layers, fog at times, but clear skies at others. So many things, so much complication, so much riding on the past, but not. The future? Unknown.

Will the Circle be Unbroken? Will there be a time when all is clear? When all melds into one…

RIP: Governor Frank O’Bannon

And tonight, I mourn with my home state.

Gov. Frank O’Bannon, a gentle but powerful leader in his beloved Indiana for more than 30 years, died today in a Chicago hospital where he was treated for a massive stroke.

O’Bannon, 73, a native of Corydon, died at 11:33 a.m. in Northwestern Memorial Hospital. []Indianapolis Star]
