Enjoy the Silence

Moving in a week and a half 1400 miles from Boston to Minnesota. Just wrapped up a major remodel in my area of responsibility at work. Arranging insurance, parking in downtown Minneapolis, and all of those fun things….

Movers come in a week to pack, then load, then I set off on a 1400 mile drive with the cat. Why? Trying to fly with her would be worse…

Still biking – 49 miles this weekend and twelve miles yesterday despite a funky handlebar riser. To Houston the next two days then home to await the movers.

More soon, I hope…

RIP: Peter Jennings, 67

ABC News and others are reporting the death of Peter Jennings from lung cancer at age 67. He had announced in April of this year that he had the disease.

Rest in peace, Peter.

Elite… finally

When checking in for tonight’s flight back to Minneapolis – the last one before the move in three weeks – I found I was auto-upgraded to first class and had finally made an elite level.

Took long enough – but what a nice feeling that was.

Oh WTF.. you deserve what you get

Yeah, i gotta be cryptic here, because it’s not over yet.

But why in the world would you elect a corrupt f’ing thief like that to represent your men. Unbelievable.

Use of Force

There’s been alot of yelling and screaming in the media about the Metropolitan Police in the UK shooting and killing a man recently because they believed that he may be a suicide bomber.

And while I regret that they were wrong, they did exactly the right thing.

Smash and others have posted of this as well. There’s no option other than to shoot them in the head.

We can live in a fantasy world if we want – we can bury our heads in the sand like an Ostrich, or we can get serious about thinking about some of the issues we are going to face in the coming years.

Suicide bombers will be one of them.

At the time I took a DHS workshop earlier this year on suicide bombers, only one US police department had a use of force policy that allowed them to shoot a suspected suicide bomber. The United States Capitol Police.

Like it or not, it’s only a matter of time before we see someone participate in a suicide bombing here in the United States.. and we’d better be prepared for it – and the rapid paradigm changes that it will bring about in terms of law enforcement and private security.
